As Catholics believe that intercessory prayer, or praying on behalf of others, is a powerful way to express love, compassion, and unity within the Church. Rooted in the understanding of the Communion of Saints, Catholics pray not only for each other on earth but also ask for the intercession of saints in heaven, who are seen as close to God and able to present prayers on behalf of the faithful.
